The Author began writing the papers collected in this volume in 2008, which was and still is characterised – in the twists and turns in capitalist cycles – as the year of the collapse of the American “Lehman Brothers” bank. For some time, however, the extent of the crisis had been already clear. What had started as a subprime crisis in the financial field was moving way beyond this to take the shape of “a crisis in global relations”, a further step in the “new strategic phase” which – with the rise of new continental powers – would then involve both the socio-economic and the military-political fields with protracted and rough distress. The EU was among the powers obliged to face this new reality and European restructuring was accelerating under the impact of global tensions and competition. The articles published in the last page of our journal and collected in this book dealt with such development showing the mentioned general process reflected in the specific reality of the labour world. |
