La rivoluzione proletaria e il rinnegato Kautsky |
The Proletarian Revolution and the Renegade Kautsky |
At the beginning of the First imperialist World War, Lenin had shown that Kautsky had repudiated Marxism and had gone over to the bourgeois camp. In the preface to this work, written in October-November 1918, Lenin wrote: “Kautskyism is not fortuitous; it is the social product of the contradictions within the Second International, a blend of loyalty to Marxism in word and subordination to opportunism in deed.” Today the “loyalty to Marxism in word” has gone out of fashion, but the ultimate aim of opportunism has not changed – to tie the workers and the masses to the wagon of its own imperialist power. This is what makes this book so contemporary, when Europe as a power is trying to assert itself in the imperialist competition of the present and to make ready for the storms of the future. |
